- The legislation requires that every body corporate must have a committee.
- Committee members have an opportunity to steer the body corporate and to ensure that the body corporate properly carries out its general functions and performs its statutory duties.
- Basically, the committee carries out the day to day tasks of administering the body corporate.
- The committee must act in the best interests of the lot owners.
- Make sure that the body corporate has Office Bearer’s liability insurance.
How do I becoming a Committee Member?
- Under normal circumstances, the body corporate committee is chosen at each Annual General Meeting.
- A 'Nomination Form' is sent to all owners prior to the Body Corporate year end, and
- Must be received by the Secretary or the Body Corporate Manager by the Financial Year end date.
- The lot owner/s can put forward their preferences to fill the vacant positions of;
- One (1) executive position (Chairperson, Secretary or Treasurer) and
- all of the ordinary positions
